Who we are
Bento Academy is an email-first design education platform offering drip email courses and a weekly newsletter. When we say "Bento", "we", "us", or "our" in these terms, we mean Bento Academy. When we say "you", we mean the person accessing our website or purchasing our courses.
By using our website or purchasing a course, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
Our courses
Bento courses are delivered by email. When you purchase a course, you receive one lesson per day for the duration of that course, sent to the email address you provided at checkout. Course content begins the day after purchase.
Each course is a self-contained educational product. The number of lessons and the topics covered are described on the course page at the time of purchase. We reserve the right to update and improve course content over time. Any updates are included in your original purchase at no extra cost.
Purchasing a course
All course purchases are one-time payments. There are no subscriptions, no recurring charges, and no hidden fees. The price displayed at checkout is the total amount you will be charged.
Payments are processed securely by a third-party payment provider. We do not store your payment details. By completing a purchase you confirm that you are authorised to use the payment method provided.
Refund policy
You are entitled to a full refund if you request it before your course has started. A course is considered started once the first lesson email has been delivered to your inbox.
Once the first lesson has been sent, the course is considered delivered and no refund will be issued. This is because the educational content has been provided and cannot be returned in the way a physical product can.
To request a refund before your course starts, contact us at hello@bentoacademy.com with your order details. We will process eligible refunds within 5 to 10 business days.
As a consumer based in the European Union, you have the right to withdraw from a digital purchase within 14 days under the EU Consumer Rights Directive. However, by completing your purchase and requesting immediate delivery of digital content, you acknowledge that you waive this right once the course has begun. If you have not yet received your first lesson, your 14-day right of withdrawal remains intact.
Intellectual property
All course content, including emails, text, graphics, and any other materials produced by Bento Academy, is owned by Bento Academy and protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws.
When you purchase a course, you receive a personal, non-transferable licence to access and read the course content for your own private educational use. You may not reproduce, distribute, share, resell, or publish any course content in any form without our prior written permission. This includes sharing course emails with others, posting content to public platforms, or using course material as the basis for your own educational products.
Acceptable use
You agree to use Bento Academy's website and courses only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe the rights of others. You agree not to attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of our systems, not to use our services to distribute spam or harmful content, and not to misrepresent your identity when purchasing or communicating with us.
We reserve the right to suspend access to our services for anyone who violates these terms.
Email communications
By purchasing a course or joining our waitlist or newsletter, you agree to receive emails from Bento Academy related to your purchase or subscription. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can opt out at any time. Unsubscribing from the newsletter does not affect active course emails you have purchased.
Disclaimer
Bento Academy courses are educational products designed to teach design knowledge and principles. We make every effort to ensure the content is accurate, well-researched, and genuinely useful. However, we make no guarantees about specific outcomes, career results, or professional advancement as a result of completing a course. Your results will depend on your own effort, application, and circumstances.
Course content is provided for educational purposes only and does not constitute professional advice of any kind.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Bento Academy will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of our website or courses. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your purchase will not exceed the amount you paid for that purchase.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under EU law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes we will notify you by email and update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the European Union and the member state in which Bento Academy is registered. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of our services will be subject to the jurisdiction of the relevant EU courts.
As a consumer in the EU you also have access to the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr if you wish to resolve a dispute without going to court.
